Perhaps I should title this 'small flies' as there are a number of tiny flies (fruit flies, for example) that are much smaller than these. We have an area that holds a bit of water and that, of course, attracts all kinds of bugs. I was just glad that they ignored me and kept to the water.
The above are all tight crops.
Below is the 'close up' shot I took of the last one. It was a real trick to get them in focus.
Amazing how they can 'float' on the water. A good example of water's surface tension.
